Here are a couple of freight engines I did in the Black and Gold. I
did the before and after version of the GP7L . The one is pre-1965 and
the other is after they chopnosed them.
I used an Atlas GP7L undecorated. I used Reefer Yellow and Loco Black paint (Scalecoat II), Decals came from the Alaska RR Diesels # 87-280 and Curt's passenger set. The only detail part was the Roundhouse Hobbies XL plow( ARR). The original engines didn't have much in the way of modifications from the research I did. Therefore, I modeled it after the one picture I had of the 1838 in the May 1984 issue of Extra 2200 South. Then I did the chopped nose version in the black and gold. So I used the same decals, same paints and just added more detail parts to them. I also found most of the engines didn't have the plows in this version. But I did add a modified winterization hatch (like the F7s), a 5 chime horn, radio antenna, and beacon. |
