Oasis Roadhouse mile 26, Alaska Northern Railway

Commentary by Patrick Durand, "This would be just RR south of Moose Pass near Lawing or Crown Point  on Kenai Lake or near Trail Lakes.  In the winter they used the lake ice for freighting and the trail to avoid avalanches.  Also notice the two wires going out to trackside? for telephone or telegraph.

"Indeed they were called Roadhouses before they became formal section houses on the RR. Typically about 20 miles apart for a days walk or dog run with mail or freight. Typically built and operated by a private individual. For frame of reference remember the original Iditarod trail out of Seward was on the RR route."
