Wasilla Train Station Enhancement Report

WASILLA, ALASKA: WHERE THAT LONESOME WHISTLE BLOWS

Wasilla Train Station Enhancement Progress Report

I counted ten people waiting at Wasilla Train Station for yesterday’s ARR northbound Denali Star. All boarded and then I saw no one waiting. As I contemplated how I might get a decent secondary photo as the Star and the two Wilderness Express bear cars tagging along at the end rolled, a trench-coated passenger hustled into the scene and boarded the train.

As the lead photo illustrates, the Cement Henge Archaeological Site has remained intact throughout the construction, although a couple of the blocks were moved a bit. Frog Rock, Wasilla’s world-renowned art masterpiece, has weathered it all with its indomitable smile. I do not know what plans the ARR might have for Cement Henge and Frog Rock, but in my own exceptionally modest and proudly humble opinion, they should make a pedestal and place Frog Rock on top of it, facing passing trains.

None of the passengers or crew who pass through Wasilla get to see Frog Rock - and that’s sad.

Four-wheeler ATV tours could be established through the mysterious graffiti canyons of Cement Henge with guides hired and four-wheelers rented, tiny ones with genuine combustion engines for the tots included.

Add in a snack bar and fancy, high-priced salmonburger restaurant, and, well, just imagine the economic benefits this would bring to Wasilla! 9/8/24
