Art took us to Pioneer Park to visit two historical train items. TVRR #1 0-4-0 HK Porter narrow gauge steam locomotive experienced some mechanical issues and was in the shop for repairs. Art is shown above pointing out some significant axle wear. 7/15/23 Engine #1 was restored over a ten year period by the Friends of the Tanana Valley Railroad. It is the oldest operating steam locomotive in Alaska and the Yukon Territory. Admission to Pioneer Park is free. You can visit the Tanana Valley Railroad Museum Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm.
